NORML UK AGM, UK CSC AGM and NORML UK Women´s Alliance first public meeting is this year taking place as part of the same event during the weekend of 31st May and 1st June, in Bristol, at the Malcolm X Centre. The board and team here at NORML UK would like to extend a warm welcome to members old and new, and hope that you are able to join us once again.
We surveyed those people who attended last years NORML UK AGM. Many expressed disappointment that more time was not allocated to debate and discussion with board members. So this years focus is on meeting our members, gaining your input and support for our future projects and campaigns. Last year people enjoyed the speakers, and many attendees commented on making many new and lasting friendships.
NORML UK are looking to adopt a different, flatter, board structure and the proposal will be presented by the board at the AGM. Along with any other motions tabled by members. In order that active members who are not able to attend are able to take part in voting, you will be able to register in advance for an email proxy vote. Any motions tabled or positions contested will be emailed to you, allowing you to vote by lunch-time on Sunday 1st June. Results will be announced at the end of the weekends proceedings. Please register by emailing, quoting your name and membership number to email@example.com before Friday 30th May.
Due to an extortionate increase in venue hire fees we have decided not to organise a formal evening event. Instead there will be a free event at a local pub, hosted by the members of Bristol Cannabis Club. Further details will be given at the AGM and will also be available from Bristol Cannabis Club page.
The schedule for the weekend includes NORML UK AGM and speakers on Saturday, including Jason Read (LEAP UK), and Film Trailer with George Wilkins, from Bud Buddies Project Storm. At the end of Saturday afternoon there will be a fun cannabis quiz with Luke Keen, local Bristol comedian and canna thusiast.
Jason Reed is the UK Executive Director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition – LEAP UK. Jason has also blogged for the Huffington Post UK edition since its launch and has written analysis, interviews and comment pieces for various sites including Politics.co.uk.
2014 sees the release of the long awaited cannabis documentary, The Culture High; Jason Associates Produced this highly anticipated film which features the leading figures in UK and global drug policy.
There will also be a range of stalls, raffles to raise money for NORML UK, and lunches will be available at an extra cost on both days.
Tickets are available from Eventbrite, with a limited number of early bird weekend tickets costing only 20 GBP per person.
