Afternoon everyone. My name is Martin and I think some of you already know me (unfortunate for you ). I have been a medical use of cannabis for a number of years now. I have a back injury and had surgery 3 and a half years ago to ease the problem and will need more in the future Im told, I also have arthritis in my spine and scoliosis. I used recreationally when I was younger, although a medical user I also like the social side of our herb and have made some good friends along the way. I hope to get to know a few more of you in the future and maybe get to medicate with you too while talking over the best strains that you have come across or swapping recipes for medibles.
Have a great day one and all.

Hi All, im new here like you lot and just saying hello and I hope this place gets more visitors soon as its badly needed in the UK!
I have been using cannabis for years to relieve chronic lower back pain and the associated stress that comes with constant pain and impaired mobility. I am currently unemployed having just been made redundant (again) and also have a criminal record as got caught growing my own medicine a few years back. My dream job would be to open a coffee shop in a small English town somewhere and just live a peaceful life away from the cannabis user persecutors driven to a frenzy by the likes of the daily mail et al.
Life would be so much easier if I could apply for the jobs that need a CRB check, as it is I dont think Im going to have much look finding a job that fits my disability any time soon!

Hello!
I've been totally blind with cataracts over the Summer and, now that my left eye has been fixed, I'm excited to learn that the UK at last has what promises to be a respectable pro-cannabis lobbying organisation. I was in at the death of Legalise Cannabis Campaign in the mid-1990s and have stayed in touch with cannabis activism, such as it is, since then, although I've not been too active. Indeed, I've been dismayed by the way successive initiatives have been thwarted, often by warring egos.
I'm especially impressed that many of the founder members are medicinal users and trust that this agenda - i.e.: effective, cheap, natural medicine - will be at the forefront of your/our campaigning efforts. I attended the THC4MS trial in 2006 and was incredulous that British law could be so cruel as to deny relief to more than 1,000 MS patients (who had been supplied with cannabis chocolate by THC4MS). Even now that Sativex is licensed, cannabis remains a schedule 1 drug in the UK. This despite successive governments saying that they would reschedule when medical efficacy was proven. How much more proof do they need?
My cataracts are the consequence of a massive electric shock in April 2011 that caused the amputation of my left hand. My left foot has been repaired with extensive skin grafts. With my contacts, effective medicine arrived soon after the hospital gave me a 'net connection:-) Soon after leaving hospital with a big bag of prescription drugs, I replaced them all with cookies made with cannabis butter extracted from the fan leaves and trim of friends' plants. I replaced useless pharmaceutical painkillers (there is no effective drug for phantom limb pain), which cost a packet and have nasty side-effects with a drug that cost me nothing and whose 'side-effects' are an enhanced sense of well being, increased appetite, and peaceful sleep.
Another effect of the cookies is that they alleviated ocular pressure and slowed the development of my cataracts. I only found this out when I stopped taking them and went blind! Now I can see, I am eager to become active again and look forward to being involved with NORML-UK.

HI EVERYONE! my name is mark am from wales(not a sheep shagger ha ha),am pleased to be onboard too, im new to forums but not new to natures finest!
Due to falling off roof 19 december 2005 at work before hit the floor i heard ridge tiles i was carrying smash entered the tunnell with light at the end and at that point the light was getting brighter after what felt 20 seconds then i went back down the tunnel away from the light after what felt like total darkness. As i gained conciousnes i never felt so much pain all over my body in my life my right wrist was limp (multple fractures) that all what was holdin my right hand on was skin, dislocated right shoulder ,broken pelvis dislocated right hip nightmares etc.
Due to me disabilities i suffered after fall could not work anymore (carpenter/groundworker)i struggled to cope even on medicatoin it made feel worse, being a farther of four healthy children my partner at the time had to work to keep a roof over our heads which caused extreme hard ship in the family food etc. 12 months later The final nail in the coffin 18 and a half year relationships gone aswell which still breaks my heart today when i think back .
Due to the events medicine i was prescribed it made me angry and aggresive after 10 months it was comming to the point i couldnt control my self i felt thoughts of suicide ,depression etc. what happened when a freind came round changed my life forever that day it was if all my pain had dissapeared and i feel like im living again after eating chocolate brownies! no more bad thoughts at all. so i told my doctor cannabis helps me more than the medacation ever did can you perscribe me it she staired at me said you know its illegal mark it will make you paranoid if you want help take medication im offerring (thought to myself not them again..…that doctors med does nothing only effects you somewhere else?) to admit defeat and take them hold on i wanna help myself not jump off a bridge etc.(maybe doctors dont have enough time to do research ……..?)
Im a lot happier painfree person when im self medicating with cannabis thats the reason im still here! These days depending on strain depends how long you are pain free(it ranges from 1 hour right through to several hours) so eating dope cakes, bong hits(water pipe) etc all work . CBD more body buzz, THC for more high so you could see which strain is best for your needs medicinaly.
It beats me how these ignorant people say cannabis does not benefit us in any way when im living proof it does more than help with no side effects whatsoever so its about time they done their reserch about canabinoids etc and start to help us like jesus was supposed to of done cured / helped people of all mankind young and old .So i want be able to medicate my self without being classed as a criminal for pain relieving my body im not being brainwashed anymore i will not wither either i fight for reform etc cause im human , i know the truth about natures finest is the reason im still here after all, if i new then what i know now maybe maam would still be here too!
so thats me thanks for reading keep the good work up all
AND THANKS TO NORML UK
PEACE OUT !!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I'm Dean but prefer to be called Fido (don't ask!). I've been using cannabis for about 27 years.
A cancer scare last year made me look at all the rumours I had been hearing about cannabis helping cancer patients and that's when I found out that this had been known for a quite a while and yet nothing was being done about it. That's when I started thinking about becoming an activist, but where to start!
I've tried writing to my MP, Roger Gale, but he just trots out the party-line of 'cultural and historical precedent' etc. I have tried the 'comment warrior' approach, but that sometimes feels like pissing against the wind and often degenerates into name-calling, so what else can I do?

hi everybody, my names Alan. thought i should stop in and say hello.
ive been a supporter for the regulation of cannabis for a few years now, it seems it is well on its way, fingers crossed!. ive been using cannabis recreationally on and off for around 20years now, but only recently using it medically for a couple of years due to a car crash, been left with a damaged back and in chronic pain.
been lurking in other forums for quite some time although i don't really comment in many threads.
i`m glad to say ive had the pleasure of meeting some of the team here at NORML-UK(Clark, Greg, Des&MrsDes) at the Reynolds-v-Hitchins debate at salford uni. i enjoyed the debate very much even though Mr H did tried to insult me in his pompus-high-brow-manner. Grrrrrr
i like to stay informed with cannabis news and must take the opportunity to congratulate both des & clark with their new roles. it was nice to see Clark the other sunday on tv AND 69% in favour of decriminalisation, a great result considering the target audience is daily fail-reading-religious types, at least this time you got a chance to speak(not like the free speech prog pft).

Hi I my name is Kathy, and I am very interested in seeing this plant legalized. There is so much that this plant can offer and it is far safer than those drugs that the big pharmaceutical companies keep pushing.
I believe they should be studying it, cultivating it and getting to people who would benefit from this plant.
For me personally have been a smoker for about 25 years now. I like it period, for pain, for socialising, for sleeping, just because I want to. I much rather smoke than drink alcohol. Although I do believe it should not be available to anyone under the age of 19 or even 21, unless it is for medicinal purposes cancer etc which is then ingested in oil form.
The money they could generate from taxing, licencing etc from this would be fantastic and in turn that money used to help those who have addictions, help to educate people on the uses and benefits of this plant.
I have followed all the news in the states and I hope the UK will also follow suit soon. But I guess its up to us to help getting the word out and also who we vote for so we need to be voting for politicians who support our views.
Great to have a site like this.
Thanks

Hi all my names Rick.
I've used cannabis for ever, i was born h hep C+ (cheers Mum n dad) by 17 years I'd had multiple organ failure just due to crazy meds my doctor swore by, that hurt my body. I nearly died during that time and my body now refuses medication even a paracetamol.
I first found cannabis when i realised it completely (strain dependant) cures my pain AND I've not been in hospital since.
Peace and live and let's do this (Joe Swanson voice off family guy)

Hi everyone, I'm Paul.
Recreational user, I do use medically but not for any long term condition, just headaches, occasional insomnia etc. I would regularly use medicinally for anxiety if I had any level of control over the strain I got hold of, but as we all know, prohibition makes this unnecessarily difficult and I have to put up with any old shite that I can get.
I joined Norml-UK a few months ago but have since changed address, could one of you let me know how I can change this with you guys please?
Peace,
Paul

Hello all, new member here, 66 and toking since 1967, it's what I do. I've had a lovely full and productive life with family and work, and I am now enjoying retirement.
I want a Coffeeshop in Shepherds Bush where us old boys and girls can go to discuss the bad old days of prohibition. Not asking a lot really.

Greetings from London, Canada! Planning a trip to the UK in May to see one of my favorite musician whom I have listened to for as long as I have been a proponent of cannabis!
These days however, I only recently gained hope with the miraculous finding that THC may cure end stage diseases? Hope is possible. It was through researching this potential "miracle" that I discovered Norml UK!
Any advise for me?
Cheers and bye for now,
Stephanie

Hi all,
My name's Richard and I'm norml_uk. I had trouble logging in so sorry I'm late guys. I got my new t- shirt today as a welcome and yes… I'm wearing it now. I need cannabis to live a half decent life due to illness caused, in part, by crazy amounts of prescribed drugs for ongoing extra problems. Cannabis soothes my soul and relives my aches better than the oramorph i get in massive doses so with cannabis' help i quit my opium addiction of 12 years with relative ease. I support cannabis reform because cannabis supports me.
